Illegal lived on taxpayer money in DC

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we desperately need to fix our border security. And our immigration system. As reported in the Washington Examiner, an escaped Panamanian murderer lived high on the hog illegally in Washington DC for over a year - on the taxpayer's money! As The Examiner reported,
A Panamanian murderer who escaped a prison in the Central American country has been captured in the District, where authorities say he used a fake Social Security card to obtain federally subsidized housing and cruised around town in three luxury cars.

Barrera reportedly told authorities he used the bogus Social Security card to get the driver's license and secure his U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development subsidized apartment, court documents said. A property manager for Brookland Manor Apartments told authorities Barrera paid his rent for one year in advance.
Authorities also found that Barrera had three cars registered to his alias in the District: a 1998 Lexus, a 2003 Infiniti and a 2008 Acura.
Barrera reportedly told authorities he entered the United States by sneaking in through Mexico, the affidavit said.

I don't have any problem believing it. Our border authorities are disgustingly, horrifyingly incompetent. I am referring of course to the TSA, the Border Patrol, the Customs agency and any other federal agency charged with protecting our borders. These folks are always ready to read you the riot act when you complain about being profiled for the 1,000,000,000,000,000th time as a white male or as a white female. While they pass Hispanic and Arabic men and women (including fully robed and veiled women) without even so much as a tough query. But yet they consistently fall far short of the standard that we as American citizens have a right to expect. They can't even be bothered to find and deport the millions of illegals who hang out in parking lots waiting for under-the-table work. Nor do they bother to do any investigation into the H1B abuse that is rampant among employment agencies - especially those who specialize in using natives of the Indian subcontinent.

Until our elected representatives take border security (and all other forms of national security) seriously, we are going to be in danger of a repetition of September 11, 2001. Except next time, it may not be so harmless as that attack was. And Barack Obama, Eric Holder and their fellow believers in the government will probably still blame George Bush.

Guilty As Charged

Breitbart News reported that Jose Padilla was found guilty on all charges today by a jury in Miami. According to the article,
Padilla, Adham Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi face life in prison because they were convicted of conspiracy to murder, kidnap and maim people overseas. All three were also convicted of two terrorism material support counts that carry potential 15-year sentences each.

This is very good news, as it justifies the Bush Administration. Despite the idiocy of allowing terrorists and accused terrorists access to our legal system, the trial results deliver harsh reality to the folks who have claimed that Padilla is merely a misunderstood American- folks who include much of the mainstream media!

Let us hope that this conviction is the beginning of a long line of terrorists meeting their richly deserved fates. Padilla is a traitor and deserves everything he gets.

Hamas Wins

It appears that the Hamas group has won the civil war in Gaza. This can be either a curse or a blessing. Now that there is no pretense of a moderate government in Gaza, Israel can do as it pleases, without needing to consider the ramifications from the usual suspects. And Hamas now controls all the levers of government, having killed off their opponents in the Fatah gang. So they will be forced to accept some responsibility.

However, the bad news is that Gaza is now under the complete control of as terrorist group that has made no secret of its desire to destroy Israel. So for Israel, the war that Hamas has been wanting cannot be far off. If I were the Prime Minister, i would be calling up my armed forced in readiness for the inevitable attack.

One does wonder- is Hamas' complete victory enough to make the Drive-By Media realize what a real civil war looks like? Or are they still trying to convince us that Iraq is a "civil war" but somehow Gaza is not? Oh, I forgot. The Gaza war cannot be blamed on George Bush very easily, so "move along folks- nothing to see here" appears to be the order of the day for our so-called "mainstream media".

Fatah is "Secular"?

According to the United Kingdom's Telegraph they are. The Telegraph posted an article today announcing that the Palestinian Interior Minister has stepped down. However, inside the article, one could find this line:

"The resignation cast new doubt on whether the power-sharing partnership between Islamist Hamas and secular Fatah could continue."

It is the height of ignorance to call Fatah "secular". They are of a different sect than Hamas, but both are radical Islamist groups- they differ only to the extent that they are willing to admit it to the fatuous idiots who comprise the mainstream news. Both groups have written articles that call for the extinction of Israel. Both groups have carried out terrorist attacks against the West and both groups are corrupt. So where's the difference?

I think Captain Ed Morrissey provided an excellent analysis, as he wrote,
Forming unity governments might seem like a great idea, but a society has to have some kind of unity on which to base it. The Palestinians right now do not have even a protostate but a massive amount of gang turf. Hamas and Fatah have operated as the terrorist groups they are rather than as true political parties. Neither have interest in actual politics but in power grabs, which has been all too apparent in the failure of both groups to actually govern in any sense of the word.

Aside from providing yet another example that coalition governments of this type cannot work in reality, this article also provides a window into the mindset of the mainstream news people, who couldn't care less about actually performing research- apparently it's all about trying to convince ordinary Americans that Islamic terror organizations are "secular".
